Our Children

Satkaarya supports 30 children directly under its care and support and more than 50 children through various other projects. Our children are either

  • Orphans
  • from dysfunctional families
  • are those facing problems at home such as abuse or pressure to marry as a minor or work too young or
  • are children of construction/migrant workers with no permanent homes and
  • are children who have been rescued from bonded labour.
  • are children of commercial sex workers

Children are referred to us by word of mouth and from the child welfare committees in our jurisdiction. Following a referral, a home visit is made by our social worker for a social investigation of the child’s status and environment and a report recommending admission to the Satkaarya home is submitted. Parents and guardians are, wherever possible, encouraged to remain fully involved in their child’s progress. Organisations such as International Justice Mission (‘IJM’) and The International Foundation for Crime Prevention and Victim Care (‘PCVC’) have referred children to our homes and have been greatly pleased with the care and nurture given to the children and the progress made by every child.
