The outreach Programme
Our outreach programmes are designed with a purpose to make difference in the lives of people those who need the most. Please know about outreach programmes that we have been working on for the past few years.
One of the most remarkable projects undertaken by Satkaarya has been the ‘Outreach programme’ at its land site in the Sendrambakkam village. The Outreach project aims to provide pre-school learning to children in the age group ofn3-5 years identified from the village around the school site. A full time social worker, an integral part of the Outreachnproject reaches out to the people of the village identifying children for the pre-school programme. Trained teachersndeliver the programme effectively to the tiny tots.
The outreach programme has been a great success since its inception in 2022. The first and second batch of children have secured admission into kindergarten in regular schools and are doing very well. The well planned preparatory programme has enabled the children to transition into regular schools with ease as the necessary fine motor skills and other developmental parameters had been achieved. It has been observed by the parents that their children are better focussed and are able to adapt and socialise well in a big classroom.
The patronage of the mothers and the enthusiasm of the little children to come to the outreach programme has enabled the Trust to continue its programme successfully despite the geographical challenges.
Wrap Around Care
Another new dimension to Satkaarya’s activity is the recently launched ‘Batemans Wrap around care’ programme for very needy children whose home environment is chaotic, unstable and even dangerous. These children are impoverished and also face the risk of being victims of all kinds of abuse including substance abuse.
The children identified spend their evenings at the wrap around centre where they are washed and cleaned, fed nutritious snacks and meals and then given the necessary holistic educational support. The evening is organised in such a way so as to accommodate physical exercise, yoga, sports, recreational games, art activities, with some literacy and numeracy.
The little boys and girls are also taught basic hygiene, proper eating habits and values whilst managing behaviour in a positive manner.
Our ‘New School’ project
The Trustees of the Satkaarya Trust and of the donor Batemans Trust are extremely happy to announce the purchase of their own piece of land in Sendrambakkam. The area of 6 grounds will be utilized to construct a primary school with a boarding facility and thereby realise our vision of giving more underprivileged children the access to good quality education and experience that will give them the chance for a brighter future. The new project would also involve benefits to the community. The construction will be designed and planned by the Batemans Trustees with expert advice from the best architects so that it is eco-friendly and sustainable.
